Engine wont take fuel????

I just put some new parts on my xl and when i put it all back together the engine wont pull fuel through the line. i never took the engine apart other than the exhaust /clutch/ pull start. any suggestions????

Check fuel and exhaust to tank lines for splits/leaks. Is fuel tank cap on tight and o-ring OK? If all checks out fill tank and prime by taking line off at tank and gently blowing into and wwatch fuel go to carb. If lines are not clear but colored take off at carb and blow then reattach.

i blew into the top of the fuel tank to prime it and it took a lot of pressure to even get the fuel to move. i just put a pull start on it and when i covered the exhaust to prime it the fuel never moved.
 
I think you should pull the line off going into your exhaust pipe and blow into that one. it will be easier, thats what I do anyway. take caution not to blow too much fuel into your carb or youll flood the engine.
 
no fule filter and it has clear lines and i don't see anything in the lines . blew in the exhaust line and it easily flowed through but when its hooked up its a lot harder.
 
the pull start isnt hard to pull it just feels like the engine getting compresion. do u think it could be an exhaust problem?

is this a new problem or was it always rought to pull? sometimes they pull difficult because the engine has a high amount of 'pinch' or compression. To test that, loosen your glow plug about a turn & give it a pull. if it pulls a lot smoother, then its just the compression & your ok 😉
 
i dunno i just installed it and the truck is brand new i have it only a few weeks and never had a prob with it
 
i would say check your idle screw setting and make sure its open and fuel is reaching your engine. try opening the carb and blowing in it. if still no u might want to check your high speed needle. count the turns screwing it in then take the whole thing of the carb and blow in one end and make sure its clean good luck!
 
UPDATE!!!! It finally started after a arm numbing time period of pulling lol. I put all carb settings back to stock and it finally started guess she just needed some time. Thanx to all of u guys for your help it is much appreciated.

i would check to see if the carb is open where it joins the motor. mine was shut and had same prob

was going to say, if you put the lsn to far in it will plug the inlet needle and not allow fuel to enter the carb, its basicly like a clog.
 
I just noticed today that when i blew in the exhaust fuel line fuel dripped out of my carb at the mid range needle does mean i need to rebuild it or was it just from blowing in the line? The car runs good with no leaks while running.
 
set it to factory setting and just put a glob of copper rtv of the whole needle like this:

if you look closely where the mid speed needle is you will see how its covered. just make sure you set it back to flush before you cover it.
