Evening peeps,

I've just introduced myself in the welcome section and was told not to be afraid to ask questions....

So, not one for having to be told twice, first one coming up...

Why do some people have small cable ties on the top of their engines? Normally in each corner. I would have thought they'd have melted?

[Dons flameproof jacket and heads to his shed]

Thanks

Doyley

the little zip ties are to protect the head... the head doesnt usally get that hot.... if you have them on there and you melt them then your doing it wrong...

no flame proof jacket needed... the only dumb question is one that isnt asked....:resp:

yes its a great way to protect the head especially on the savage's without the engine roll cage

I like to thread the zip tie through a half inch piece of fuel tubing then wrap them to the top fin of the head.

This is a flame free forum! Check you jacket at the door and relax... Flamer's don't last long here. Welcome to the forum my man and feel free to ask anything!

Yep , welcome to the forum as well , trust me i asked quite a few questions myself . very helpful forum. use the search as well , i found it very imformative.
SL.

Man, i wish i had asked that question when i first got my savage, rolled it & hacked up the heat sink.. Well, i prob wouldnt have put the zips on it, but i learned the answer to that question the hard way so good question bro, keep 'em comin'.
.
btw- 1 reason i kept comin' back to this forum at first was becuz no-body flames.....evil clown

A truck isn't a truck until you've lost a fin or two, lol. I slap as many of those ties on my head as I can. As for the fuel tubing, my first flip usually takes it off and leaves only the ties. But I guess that because I'm going all out and punch the brakes throwing me into a failed stoppie, lol.

Thanks for the replies. It all makes sense now.:resp:

I can see this forum becoming like that comfy old arm chair that you just sink into of an evening time.... Now where's my pipe and slippers....

I think I'm currently more excited about getting my Savage, than I was when my first child was born... now surely that's just wrong:stickspank: :lmao:
