I can't believe this i'm having a problem with my new engine. It's the K4.6. First tank of gas started easy, got the idle set, didn't even reach half tank used and truck starteed to overheat. Not sure of the exact temp it's getting but i did the water thing and it was HOT. I've tried a few times to get a tank of gas through it and it overheats b4 the half way mark and i have to shut it off. I can't figure out y it's overheating at factory settings. Any help would b great.

Wagn is this at idle? I don't know what method you are using. If your doing a idle tank you need to watch the temps as it has no air flow. Shut it down to cool at BDC or use a fan over the head to control the temps. It will not idle a tank even at the flush factory setting w/o getting hot.

I agree with jeremy, the engine could need to be sealed as well. Also check for air leaks in the tank and fuel lines.

I'm not off this idea myself!!

But my K did over heat on the idle tank. No leaks ever... still runs. Good mill IMO

Try sealing the carb between the aluminum cap and the composite body as well as the mid speed needle. I have broken in a few that would not respond to needle adjustments, sealed them up and the problem was gone. I've even seen fuel squirt out of the mid speed needle (when priming) yet it showed no signs of leaking at all, must be sucking air all the time.
