I just a Axial 28, Spec1s I believe (will double check). I plan on following Crash's break-in method he used for his 32 except I'll be using Byron's 20% nitro instead of 30%. What I need to know is what type of plug should I use for break-in? I know I need to use a cold plug, but, should I use a cold plug for break-in or use a warmer plug? I also live in hot, sunny, and humid Florida. Also, Crash, if you see this, I'll be sending you a PM later down the road to discuss some of your mod work for my mill. Thanks for the help in advance.

You should use a hot to medium plug. A cold plug is for high nitro content 30%+. I run Byron 30 and seem to find Medium plugs to work best. Your mill will also take a long plug. Most will say MC-59 but they are a somewhat short plug. I typically run a Racers Edge #4.

Thanks Jason for the help. Which other type well, brand, of plugs would you recommend? I know I can get McCoy, O.S., HPI, and Fox from the LHS. I was runnin the McCoy plugs in my STS til I found out the front bearing went bad. And STS motors "needed" to use a long plug and they worked great for that mill. Hopefully gonna try and get it ready for break-in for or by the weekend.

Crash, I know you used the stock HPI teflon clutch shoes when you broke in your Axial, did you also use the stock springs? I forgot to ask about that yest.

I'm also gonna be runnin a 49/15 SP/CB gear set-up. I'm only goin with that cuz I'm lazy and don't wanna have to reset the gear mesh from what I was runnin. I was runnin a 47/17 and since my 17t CB is shot and the LHS won't be gettin any for awhile (plus I'm tryin to limit my RC spending) I switched out the gears for what I had and would fit. 49/15 fits perfect with a 47/17. I may one day end up switching it out, but just wanna get it broken in and runnin ASAP.

Cool, thanks for the help guys. What do think about the gearing? Also, the tank I used when I did my mid-tank build is almost twice the size of the stock savvy tank, so when I''m runnin the first couple tanks, should I shut off the motor once the tank emptys about half way or just run the full tank? The tank I'm using is the XTM XLB 1/8th buggy at 290cc.

I usually don't run the tank completely empty till I have at least a 1/2 gallon threw them.

As far as gearing goes I am running like 14-15/49 but I'm extended and the motors are getting rather old.

Ok, so I should be ok with the 49/15. I was gonna use a gear ratio that is right in between the highest you can go and the lowest. 52/13 would be the highest gear ratio(4.08) and 44/20 would be the lowest gear ratio(2.20). What I did was subtract 2.20 from 4.08 and got 1.88. I then divided 1.88 by 2 and got .94. Then I added .94 to 2.20 and came up with 3.14 and 4.08 minus .94 equals 3.14. With 3.14 being the gear ratio as my choice of set-up, I looked at the chart to see what combos where as close as possible to that number. Which, using what gears I already have, I came up with 49/16. But with me being a bit lazy as far as the wrenchin on my truck goes, I don't fell like changing the gear mesh so a 49/15 is perfect for where the motor sits now. I might change out the gearing to a 47/15 after I get a gal. of fuel through the motor.

I am looking to get a new mill for the sav and looking the the Axial .32 Spec 1S Engine Green and Axial .32 Spec 1S Engine Gray, what is the difference besides $10 and different color head? Can I still use the hpi roto start? also I see Crash you modded yours what all did you do to it?? I am looking from tower hobby.
