Ok, I got the spring off that holds the header pipe on using some heavy duty needle nose pliers. I'm having a heck of a time getting it back on.

Any suggestions?

As always, help is appreciated.

I use the same way you got it off. Pliers and I stretch it half at a time.
put one side in the exhaust. Then with you hand, grab it in the middle(make sure your ready with the pliers on the other end) stretch that portion halfway around the front of the engine. Pull it as far as you can then pinch it against the engine. At about the same time stretch the final half while still pinching it. This should give you enough give to get hooked up.

I've tried this with a fresh spring, and it wasn't that hard. You kind of got to help the spring along. Hope this helps, this is my method, not written in stone. If you find an easier way, I'd like to know. Peace.

Attach one end to the inside header and take the pliers close to the other hook. Orient the hook so the open end is pointing on the inside og the engine. Pull the spring out toward the outside of the truck and hook it. Use a pair of needle nose pliers with smaller head to work in the tight area. that spring can be a pain in the butt, but thats the best way I can explain it. Keep trying and you will get it. I am sure someone will come up with a better way. Good luck

Great, guys. Well, my wife was with me while we were looking at the answers. She immediately went in to the other room and pulled out a crochet hook, UMMMM, I give it a try and let you know.

Thanks

Ok, here we go. Brand name of the crochet hook is Boye, F size. 10 seconds to put it on. Thanks Nitro Blasting for the idea, and thanks all for the quick response.

ya use pliers not your fingers like i did.... i was stupid enough to try it and the spring slipped and embedded itself in my finger and deep to it hurt like heck!!! lmao i use needle nose pliers and do it exactly how it was explained above!!!
