Hi guys,

I'm brand new to this forum.

I just recently broke-in my new Savage XL. The problem i'm having is that, everytime I go to the use the brakes it stalls the engine (probably because of how much the carb closes)...how can I fix this?

I've already tried:

- shortenting the arm which opens and closes the carb
- messing with the brake adjustment screw

In any event the truck is awsome (used to be a LST owner) and I have no complaints other than the fact that I already broke a carrier (? I think thats what its called)...so that was disappointing. Anyways, any help will be greatly apprecaited.

Thanks!

Welcome to the forum bud, we'll get it figured out. I think you should kick up your idle screw and return the carb arm back to it's original setting, that'll stall it everytime as you apply the brakes, it'll close the carb. The idle setting will keep it from closing all the way. Good luck bud.

My god....i guess it really has been a while since I left the hobby. I didnt even think of that. Thank you for your help. That will work for sure.

Welcome to the forum rroberto, it is great to have you here. After you broke the motor in, did you lean out the needles or are they still at factory? If they are still at factory, the engine is still rich and can cause the motor to stall at idle. Good luck and if you have anyother questions..ask away. Welcome to the HPISF family!

I appreciate that! I swear I was going through withdrawl after I sold off my RC's...all of them...LST (lots of goodies), Axial crawler, mini lst....seriously, I had a few nice toys....

Anyways...yeah, I have slowly started leaning out the motor and I can already tell that this truck is going to be a hand full!

On another note, I surprisingly broke a rear Upright...could've been bad driving and over excitment...but I will be replacing it with another plastic part...are there any upgrades for uprights other then the Aluminum HPI's ones? I'm not a huge fan of aluminum...

Welcome to the Forum... How do you like your XL.....?

I have to say, when I opened the box, it was like Christmas 6 months early...very nice truck all in all. I didnt really realize how many good quality upgraded parts this truck already had on it (nice to see considering the price tag!).

There's only 2 things I want to change about it (right now ofcourse)...I want to get a New Era Engine protector OR roll bar (the engine protector that can with it, seems like it was made for regular Savagaes?). i also would like to get a DX3.0 or 2.0 (had one before and loved it). Just so I don't have to worry about frequencies and what not.

All in all, i'm impressed...and like I said before, this engine and pipe combo seems like its going to have allllooooootttt of go once its dialed in....and thats coming from a guy who used to run an LRP Spec 3...

Other than a few parts you wont upgrade anyways its all X parts. A- Arms etc.. Thank god you know better than alloy! :resp: But with the X-parts it has full after market support.

Thats one of the first thing i did was change out the stock am radio for a Futaba 3PM FASST. oh and the stock tires, i don't like them at all, I'm sure if you belted them and put some better foams in there they would be alot better.

Ok, so for the most part, everything aftermarket for the Savage X, will fit my truck?
