I just installed Windows on my computer and now all the browsers are HUGE so it makes it hard to do anything. Also it says my resolution is set too low when I go to my email page. I don't know if these are related or how to fix it. If anybody has any helpful information please post it.

Also, now I have lost my audio. It says the is no audio device connected to my computer? It was working fine before I put the new system in.....

I have a Dell Dimension 2350 and I'm running Windows XP Pro.

dude, go to an rc forum for computer problems?

haha..

Let me help you out. You will need to installed drivers for both your Video, Audio, and other drivers. go HERE

and start downloading all the drivers. First, download the Chipset Driver then Video, then audio. PM me for more help.

Nick

This is the best site in the world man! I come here to ask what color shirt to wear to work some days..... J/K

Thanks a ton for the link Nick! I can know enjoy my RC videos is surround sound! I didnt realize how much I relied on the sounds on my computer till they were gone. + rep for you man.

Now.... If I could just fix the resolution and the ginormous browsers I would be back to 100%

Did you already installed the video driver? If so, Then RIGHT click your desktop, in the menu go to properties. In the Display Properties dialog box, click on the settings tab. There you will need to set your resolution. Go to 1024 x 768 first. and 32-bit color.

If you have a bigger LCD monitor? you can and must go bigger on the resolution.

BTW LOL on the shrit color. hahahaha

This is a very simple fix. What size monitor do you have? To increase your resolution, do as Nick said, right-click your desktop Properties/Display/settings. Your resolution depends on the size of your monitor. I run 1680x1050 on a 22" with a Nvidia 9800GTX graphics card. If your graphics card isn't great, you may want to go a little under the size of your monitors optimum resolution to give yourself better perfomance.

I have an onboard graphics card. So its not the best but it was working fine before.
I have used the "troubleshooter" several times now and it keeps telling me I must have the wrong driver for my monitor installed. there was 7 different ones on the site and I'm pretty sure I have tried all of them now.
I HATE COMPUTERS! Sorry, I had to vent.......

I have tried that a couple times and it wont let me change the resolution or the bit rate. Than from there I went to "advanced" than "monitor" and it sayes the default monitor setting are being used. But it wont let me look through the other options and see if another setting works better.

I also went to properties, settings, advanced, adapter, properties and than driver. now according to the "troubleshooter" there is supposed to be an option to update driver on that screen but its either not there or its not an option I can access at this time.

I'm running a standard Dell 16" monitor. Nothing fancy as the kids destroy everything. My nice monitor ended up with a dart through it.

Yeah I hate computers when thery're not working right. My buddy helped me out, he's an IT guy for Boeing. I'll get him on here one day, got'em interested in the XL. Good luck Oregon, sounds like somethings not jiving and I have nothing to offer!

That's what happens when your backdrop is a dartboard!

I finally figured it out. I guess I hadent tried one of the 7 drivers the first time. I went through the list in the link Nick sent me and tried them all again. The 5th one down was the one I needed. I can see the whole screen and I'm not typing in letters that are almost an inch tall. Ya!

Thanks for all the help guys!

Dam i wish i seen this post before I sent you a PM. It was a long one. haha Good Job dude. One thing to mention is, you don't what to install useless drivers. Meaning not all the drivers on dells website are in your system.

Just an FYI!!

So should I hunt those other ones down and delete them? I have 200 gigs of HD so I wont even notice the room they are taking up. But if there is a reason to remove them I will. Thanks again Nick.
