anyone put the 5.9 in a pre xl?

lookin at the hpi website it appears that the xl fits the mold of savys of the past. looks like basicly to me most parts are interchangeable. i have an old 21 which has been upgraded to an x over the years of abuse. hpi lists the k5.9 as an option for the 21 and has the tvp's for the xl as upgrade to convert your x to xl. man big displacement, short wheelbase, and already trusted runnin gear = lots of fun to my twisted mind.

Hpi is sending me one for my savage x. My 4.6 took a @#$% after 4 gallons called HPI and the 4.6 is on back order. The 5.9 will be here next week.

dude i just read your thread sorry about your 4.6, but like you have been told i to am jealouse. i am thinking of stuffing that mill into my savy. let us know how it goes.

The thing is HPI was going to replace my 4.6, but since they where on back order he said he would give me a 5.9 for $50!

I got the same deal from HPI because they didnt have the 4.6 in stock. I have put the 5.9 in my savage X and have used up a full gallon of 30% Byrons. I have a buku, I have a 3 spd, 17 - 47 cb/sg, 40 series tires and a taller 3rd gear. I can't say I have noticed any better performance with the 5.9 In fact my friend with a stock savage X still runs circles around me until I feel stupid with all my hop ups. First issue is tuning the buku for a 5.9, no one knows this setup yet. Not even buku Dave. Second issue is the OWB slipping. Idk where I went wrong... Anyone else have any thoughts on this?
