Bought a convention kit from rc4me and converted my Savage XL to fit and run a 2-stroke gas engine. Now I don’t have the nitro engine problems. Right now, there is a 29cc gas engine. This kit was designed for the Savage Octane. However, I was able to use most of the parts from my Savage XL I did have to purchase some parts for the Savage Octane.

damn brother... 😱 Do tell us more! Have you run it yet?
No, I have not been able to run it, yet it has been too cold here in Indiana. And I still have to break in the gas engine.
Here is a list of the parts that I had to purchase because some of the parts from my Savage XL are different from the Savage Octane.

3-Speed Transmission for HPI Savage XL Octane
Steering Servo Mount Box #116362
Tank Mount Set for HPI Savage XL Octane HPI #109786
Brake Pad Mount and Triple Fiberglass Brake Disk Set HPI #109024 & #111347
Brake Hub for HPI Savage XL Flux / XL Octane HPI #109268
Throttle Servo Saver and Brake Lever Set for HPI Savage XL Octane HPI #108948
Radio Box Set with Receiver and Ignition Switches for HPI Savage XL Octane
Center Front Dog Bone 8×70.5mm for HPI SAVAGE XL Flux / XL Octane #109907
Fuel Tank Set for HPI Savage XL Octane HPI #108944
Any 4-Bolt 2-stroke Engine
I am using a Rovan 29cc 4-Bolt 2-stroke Engine.

And the Savage Octane Conversion Kit

One concern I have is how exposed the power plant and the exhaust are in case the car flips... Great work nevertheless.

I do have a roll change to protect the engine however, right now with the exhaust setup I am currently using it will not fit. Right now, the exhaust setup is mainly for the break in. But I am looking for a better exhaust header.
