Hi Guys, Just want to share HPI's reply on regards to their lack of spares currently. Hope this will happen sooner then later.

They have always said that they are working it all out and to just wait so hopefully they are right.

I guess as long as they say they are working on it I will stay optimistic.

Not much point in getting irritated about it. I am sure they are doing whatever possible to make parts available.....

yea, after all they already been paid, right?

Paid??? I do believe RIPMAX has laid out quite a sum of money to purchase HPI.... why in the world would they not want to put out parts for the Savage line ??? I am sure it is not a conspiracy, just slight delays getting things up and running is all.....

Yea, they been paid. Every one of us who bought hpi products paid them for their products.
Dodge didnt stop making parts for dodges for a year when fiat bought them.
Direct tv didnt stop service for a year when att&t bought them
Its bad business to stop supporting your customers after you been sold. They really have no excuses other than complete dis-respect and contemt for their customers. Especially after ignoring this issue for a year.
They could release a new model, though in that year, the savage flux xl

You are more forgiving than i am. Kudos to you.
I have 2 nitro savages in my shop that are useless as nipples on a rooster cause there are no oem tanks to replace the broken ones.i refuse to pay the sole seller on ebay $124 dollars for one and i shouldnt have to re-engineer another manufacturers products on my trucks to make them run

Well I get much more fun out of making my own creations, I collect RC as well as bash, and always have something to run.... but I do know the average joe has not got the tools or time to rengineer a product just so they can use it, I do hope they get their act together soon also, but in the meantime if your tank is not too awful broken a temporary fix may need to be found....

I'd say that was your opportunity to customize. Sad you didn't jump at the chance. For me, a mid tank mod would have happened. Seems like the perfect excuse: "Sorry honey, I had to spend all this money because replacement parts were unavailable." :D

Any pictures of it looking down the TVPs? I'm curious how much it sticks out compared to stock.

Nice mod!

I actually tried to minimized the amount it stuck out past TVP's I wanted the mounts to be inside the plate and the tank to be as far in as possible. but it just wasnt meant to be as i was too lazy to get out the torch, heat the mounts up and tighten those bends(pretty wide bends). those 2 mounts amount to a full afternoon of work now that my welder is back from shop, i may hook up spoolgun and weld some braces on those mounts. I made another set of mounts from aluminum angle, but they failed before i even got the tank fully mounted.
Next winter i will attempt a better set. aluminum rod stock is easy to come by

The tank just wouldnt fit on the X in the stock location. its just too long. maybe i will start looking for a new reciever box to mount outside the chassis plates and attempt to mid-tank mount the other 8T tank i bought, but thats a "next winter" project. Construction season soon calls

I use 3/8" steel rod.

Scroll through a bit. I just make little L pieces and drill 3mm holes to bolt to the chassis and tank.

when i made those L-brackets, i drilled and tapped the ends so i wouldnt have to mess with nuts. My fat, johnsonville sausage sized fingers do not handle small nuts or fasteners real well, and when i drop them my eyes have a problem with re-locating them on the floor.
I am pondering a 3D printer. i could probably make my own 2 piece plastic tank plus mounts. I just haven't taken the dive yet.
Also pondering how easy/hard it would be just re-fab a nice aluminum tank from flat stock. I could make my own tools for the press to press flatstock into 2 half-tanks and use an O-ring to seal the halves together. weld a bung and cap mount. i definately wouldnt design it like RD or the oem tank. probably like a higher capacity version of the extinct ofna tank
