I have came across a what says to be a Savage x 4.6 SS big block that is not complete. It is lacking the receiver, the gas tank, the radio and a few other components. So I bought another one last night online that had a bad receiver and was wondering hoe to find out how to find out if I have the f4.6 or the k4.6? Can anyone help me?

I will have to wait till the one that I bought online comes in But I will send you a pic of the one I have now. give me a minute. Thanks

I guess it looks like the k4.6. I don't know. It looks like it. What are the difference between them both

Sure looks like the K to me, same carb and head and block is silver instead of black and has same relief cuts in mounting tabs so i say thats a K4.6 by all those indicators...

I'm a newbie but I think ss kits don't come with receiver or put together etc and motors bigger than rtr kit. I think that's what I read when looking to purchase, so is it a brand new ss kit?

I believe the SS was a kit version and required all radio gear to run it would have included the :ercm: also I think....

I really don't know. All I got from this guy was the truck without the radio, receiver, gas tank, exhaust, and afew other parts. So that is why I bought other online last night. So which is the best engine the k4.6 or the f4.6?

Not sure which is "better"... my son has a savage x with the f 4.6 in it and it is a beast of a truck, my personal savage has the axial .32 in it and while not faster I think it has more low end than his does..... overall both engines are good for most bashing duties.

Yes it does but the guy also said that he added this head on it but again just asking. Also do you know what the difference is in the both engines?

As there have been a couple versions of both I will have to defer to the :ercm: experts on here, some say the composite carb is best for tuning and holds a tune a bit better, personally I prefer an alloy carb body because the composite carbs can be easily damaged and threads in the idle screws can be stripped easily by some of us gorilla handed types..... It all comes down to preferences if you ask me, if it runs well and stays together i am usually happy...

Thanks man. I just hope that I can make a great truck with the both. What is the best nitro fuel to run?

Thank You very much. Your info has been helpful

I use Sidewinder 20% backyard basher blend, others are Odonnell, Byrons all are good fuels, best off to use a quality fuel and have one less problem to deal with.....

Hey man just from personal experience the f model holds a way better tune than the k model but if they are both tuned right they both are monsters
But I now run a Picco 28 and it' even more wicked
