I picked up a Savage X 4.6 a few weeks ago, not my first nitro, but my first HPI, I'm not a huge fan of the rotostart so I picked up a pullstart at my LHS. Compared to the other traxxas vehicles I've owned the Savage X looks pretty intimidating to take apart, lol. I was just wondering what the easiest way is to the backplate to swap starters is?

That's pretty much the way to get to the back plate .. Take the Four 3mm hex screws out of the motor plate and there you go ..

Just make sure your gear mesh is good .

it sounds like a big project to "pull the the motor" but it really isnt. I was nervous just thinking about it the first time. but after I did three of four times it really isnt that hard at all unscrew the the 4 fasteners that hold the mount to the engine plate from underneath the truck take off the throttle linkage and the pipe at the coupling, fuel lines and out she comes LOL

Yep that's what I did, took about 15 mins to throw the pullstart on.

another way to do it that i just did today was just pull the four rear screws, loosen the 4 motor screws and pop the rear end off. no need to pull the motor and you can get to everything just fine.
