i found a bird lying at the street today so i noticed that there is some thing wrong with it
i've take it home to feed it while it recover's it's strength and not to be eaten by a cat or be killed by a car
after about 30 mins it seems that the bird is all right and well so i got to free it to the wild
while i was holding it it started moving and fly away but it's tail feathers still in my hand's
my question is : will it live without it's tail feathers and will they grow again ???
thanks.

I have had several birds as pets, and to quickly answer your question yes the tail feathers will grow back, till then his flying skills arent going to be so good, he will be lucky if he/she doesnt smack into something and knock itself out.

MY uncle was holding my Ring Neck Dove and the sealing fan was on (we were sitting at the dinning room table) and it tried to fly away, my uncle being scared grabbed onto the tail feathers and pulled every last one of them out. Took about 2 months for them to get back to half the size and usable again.

thanx morpin
i wish he/she will not smack any thing these couple of months and stay alive
thanx again morphin

i know but i don't want to know that i killed it after saving it...... 😀

Just last week my Dad found a pigeon that got shot with a pellet gun and since he raised pigeon when he was a little boy and it only took 3 weeks for the pigeon to re-coop and he hand fed it for the 3 weeks and he let it go...

You are a good man. Few people would do what you did. Don't worry as long as you didn't have all of them in your hand it will be able to fly and they will normaly seek shelter and fly as little as possible while they recoupe and the feathers grow back.

very good of you... i don't touch pigeons... i consider them to be flying rats here in the uk!
