help...the truck suddenly stops but the engine is still running .... i pull the trigger to the max but still not moving.... i then put it on neutral.... after a few seconds..pull the trigger again and the truck moves...does this every now and then....what's my problem? transmission? clutch shoe not engaging?...

a electronic glitch of some sorts ? what radio and servos are you running ? what battery are you using also ? a little more info would do great justice for us to help.

you have reverse ?

"i pull the trigger to the max but still not moving.... i then put it on neutral.... after a few seconds.."

What is Neutral in this statement?

dx3s(also happens when using FM/AM radio)....stock hpi SF1 servo on throttle...battery is full charged,1600mah...no reverse... neutral - center of trigger, not braking, not pulling trigger.....

i would bring it to a LHS.. but i would like to fix it myself first...if i can...

all plugs, wire are ok...electronics are working properly if engine is not running...i think it's the engine...coz at WOT..truck is still not moving...i just brake and wait for a few seconds then the truck moves...

at first this sounded like a short to me also. you don't need the lhs, we can fix this. lets clarify a few things first....

1. does it roll to a stop or lock up quickley?
2. when you 'pull trigger to max' does the mill respond & rev accordingly or not?

1. are the electronics also working if the engine is running?

Do you have a fail safe installed? If so what kind? If not, have you noticed any decrease in operating range of the TX? Did you try to rebind the Tx/RX?

Quick question. Without the engine running, how does it roll back and forth as far as feel. Do you feel resistance when you rock it? I had a simular problem this summer with my savage. This may or may not be your problem.
While running mine after a longer pass and turn the truck around it would just stay there like the engine died. I gave a couple pumps on the controller and nothing.(as the truck was far away I thought the engine died out- lots of noise with all the others nitro engines running) As I got closer to my truck I found that it was still running. mmm. This did this a couple of times.(I thought it was a range problem- but I am running a DX3R- so this should not be an issue)
Next time I run the truck I think I found the problem. Tranny lock up. It would rev but would not move. It was not the clutch. My truck would not roll back and forth at this time. I took the trans apart. The 2 screws on the end of the 2 speed came loose and cut into the casing.... They backed all the way out to hit the brake shaft causing my problems.

Sorry for the long post. Just guessing. HONK,HONK

roll to a stop...

yes

all are working...

Is the motor reving when you give it gas?
If it is it might be a clutch problem or a slipper plate issue

yes...do i need to replace them?

when i use AM or FM.. i use futaba fsu.. when i use spektrum..i use the built in fail safe...this happens even when i'm 10 ft away from the truck...so don't think it's a radio problem...

almost the same problem..but it does not have problem rolling forward.. but backwards..hmmmm...no resistance but a different sound compared to rolling forward...didn't pay attention to it since i don't have reverse...

I don't have reverse also. I think the noise rolling back and forth is just the external gears moving. IE spur and clutch bell spinning. I have no other info. I hope some of the more experiance guys may have some more input on this.

From what I can make out on this tarded phn. Sounds kinds like the break. Piston miGht be sticking. Or the crystals are going bad or in backwords. Make sure the TX crystal is in the TX and the rx crystal is in the rx. Sounds like comon sense but it can be overlooked when switching things around in a hurry to get it to work right. Good luck. Welcome to the forum. Bash on

i still don't think its with the tx/rx.. since it happens using AM, FM and 2.4G.. thanks...

i had the first gear oneway bearing just fail in one of my savys sounds like the same prob. it seemed like the truck was in neutral and rev like crazy but no movement happened after stoppin or slowing down to make it shift back into first gear bam neutral, but give the truck a second or 2 at idle and she would grb and go again. it took me awhile to figure it out. run with your lid off and when it does it look at the spur gear on the tranny and see if it is spinning with the motor while in this neutraled state if it is thats where the issue is going to be.

I had a similar issue after a huge crash. I replace my clutch shoes and went with a racing clutch bell. I also noticed that my brake arm was leaning really far forward. I replaced my brake piston and brake arm and finally i could move forward again. Long story short I replace those four items and that helped me. I cant tell you which one helped for certain but my gut feeling it was the brake piston causing enough drag to mess things up.

I guess I should have read Mickeys response closer because shortly after I replaced all that stuff, my one way bearing went in my tranny. It was a really big crash.hehe

this problem was solved by just tuning...but i did upgrade to steel spur gear and racing clutch bell... then it happened again yesterday when i adjusted the idle screw...

I had a similar problem on my sons brand new savage. Turned out to be a defective c clip in the trans. when the clip got caught in the gears the trans locked and the truck stopped.
Pop the top off the trans and carefully check the gears for damage and any foreign debris.
