I just got an iphone and man the battery drains fast. Anyone got a way to save the batt. I set it to auto lock after 1 min. Set the email to fetch only once an hour. Dimmed the backlight. Turned yim off. turned of the wifi.

Anything else I can do?
 
hmmm mine will last a few days before it dies and i use the internet quite a bit. maybe you have a defective one? id bring it to the apple store and check into it...
 
hmmm the one i have is the older 3g 8g maybe the 16g is just harder on the battery?
 
i say you do what the rest of the country would do & call up the guy that sold it to ya & tell him to make it right.

way different phone but my b.b. curve charge last for days. I'm good for 3600minutes + per month & email all day long.

sounds like your batt is bo-janky/defective.
 
my iphone ussaly last 2 days if i just text and call but if i play around a little more than a day . you do have a 3gs and they are proned to battery eating issues. since its new you must be on 3.1.2 which i found dose eat a little juice and you did state you have a bigger flash memory which dose eat more juice up then the 8 gig . why did you get the 16 ?
 
Does the fact that it is new have an effect. I rember when I first got my blackberry the battery would last less than a day for the first few weeks than it would last two or three days
 
no it dosent matter it should last longer but you do have the 3gs which dose eat up more battery as it has more ram and better graphics card along with the camera that dose vid.

it actually could alex. batts are gonna perform best after a few cycles.

+1 - bring it back and exchange it. Mine dies over the course of the day BUT I am on wifi all day every day, on 3G, use the interent a lot, and check 3 email accounts every 30 mins - so I expect it to die. I could make it last much longer by cutting all that back, but I am OK with it.

I picked up one of these when I went to Florida. I charged it at the hotel, and when the battery died I just plugged it in and it recharged the phone as I was walking around - worked like a charm.

Just my $.02.

You have TERRIBLE coverage in your area - remember when I was at your place trying to order the upgrades on my iPhone? The phone will boost radio output to try to compensate for poor reception, and this will drain the battery very quickly.

Edge is slower, but uses less battery. If you are home or in an area with wireless internet,just configure your phone to use that wifi, and it will not struggle to stick to 3g, it will use wifi - which uses a LOT less power.

I get full bars at my house. Must have been a down tower that night or something. I will do the wifi thing at home thanks now just to figure out how to turn off the 3g
 
Edge sucks ieave my 3g and don't have battey issues and my is jail breaked witg a crap load of stuff lol . I'm telling ya 3gs ARE NOTOARIOUS for eating batts . My 3g gose almost 2 days with no charge and uts 2 years old
