New XL diffs, New XL Dogbones, New XL wide drive cups, for my .21. Now this what have i done wrong?? the back diffs seem to work fine but the front are binding up for some reason.. this video should explain it a lot better.
thanks for any help

its a shim issue you need to re shim the diffs thats why its binding

their is hardly any if any play in the diffs! don't you want a tiny bit?? i can hardly get a strand if hair in the play i have ?? i have never shimed before. so what should i do! the diffs feel great before i connect them to the transmission, but i checked it and its like new.. I'm lost and mad at my savy..lol
i have also checked if i installed the diff backwards but thats a joke! they are designed to go in only one direction and dose not matter witch you put on the front or back! so what is my next mission??

looking at the vid something is wrong wit the front diff. sounds like the pinion is gone for that matter. we all know its not. Did you shim the pinion in be you put the diff over to it ?

i dident shim the diff @ all their is very little play as it is

Are the bearings good? No one has mentioned those yet. Based on what I hear in the vid, and everytime I have that same problem, it sounds like either the ring gear is too tight on the pinion, or your pinion is binding somewhere (check those bearings also). Take it apart, look everything over, make sure the diff bearings are seating in the bulk correctly and nothing looks like it is rubbing.

bearing are good they came new with the new complete XL diffs but i checked again and still check out good, their is no binding what so ever untill i put it all together.
but i did notice their is alittle more movement front to back with the ring gear than i would like so I'm thinking of trying the shim thing. any one know what shims to use for the LX.

Ive switched the guts back over to the XL bulks. i need acouple more parts to get it together. i think pope has my back their. gonna trade him some Bearings for the pieces i need.

Pope just told me he blew out his new XL diffs in a couple laps today.. is their something wrong with XL diffs??

By the way i haven't even started my savage with the new diffs yet so they have not been ran everything is still new

update! i lost this thread some how..
it had nothing to do with the diffs or any upgrades i had done.
problem was i switched the cups from the trans and trans side of the diffs. this caused binding do to the way they had been worn.
if i had put them on exactly where they were removed i would not had any problems (basically put the back cup on the front and the front cup on the back)
