I need to remove the flywheel and collet from my savage xl and my question is how to do it with out doing any damage to my pilot shaft ?:stressed:

pick up a battery turmanel puller from the local auto parts store works just like the flywheel pullers but 6 bucks instead of 30.

Take a screw driver, lay it along the block with the tip on the back of the flywheel and give it a good tap with a mallet. It works for me and I'm sure you already have the tools.

+1 this is how I do it too. don't put it between the fly and the front bearing/block !

+3 here, if it's still stubborn you could tap it forward with a hammer just be careful not to hit the block. I have never had to do this but could happen.

+4 Flywheel removers are too much money.
