I'm no mechanic but i wouldnt think changing exhausts would burn more fuel really, but you will have to re-tune the engine thats all..... and welcome to the forum my friend!!!!!!

yes you will use more fuel do to it will allow the mill to flow in turn a higher rpm, its just like a real car if you go from stock to lets say a magna flow 40 series you will increase in power but at the same time you will use more fuel.

always remember the more power you want the more fuel you will burn. just my .02

I'll will say it depends on the pipe. Some yes others no. Pipes act as the valves for the mill. sound waves push the mixture back in the cylinder from the exhaust port. So if you have a good match the pipe will burn more of your nitro that was escaping through the exhaust port. Some will be more fuel. Some the same, with more power. Some will be less. all depends on the who whats and wheres...

air + fuel=hp. The only way to get more power is a combination of both more intake and more exhaust. So to answer your question yes even though it may be a very minute difference you will be consuming more fuel.

a more important aspect than economy is that if you dump that black muffler for a tuned pipe you'll most certainly see an increase in performance rockout

see i learned something new again, lol i didnt think the difference in "fuel economy" would even be noticable but what you guys are saying definately makes sense...

I wouldn't think that a good tuned pipe would necessarily make you get worse fuel economy, actually on a real car if you put a performance exhaust on it helps with the scavenging effect, get more air out, lest more fresh air in. In turn this actually helps use the fuel more efficiently, less fuel goes to waste and it gets burned, turning what would have been unused and blown out into actual power causing less fuel waste. The only two pipes i have ever used on my savage were the stock plastic, and an 086. I can't say i have noticed much difference, if any. Chances are you won't really notice.
