why cant my XL wheelie

I'm running a 13 cb and a 52 sg on my XL it still wont wheelie any help on why? I also have already tighten my slipper clutch up some i was told that well help. I bought the integy purple wheelie bar and i think it was a waste cause i havnt been able to even use it
 
It could be that the mill isn't properly tuned, the engine isn't loosend up completely, the clutch is slipping, running crappy fuel ext, but with 13/52 you should be doing wheelies no prob

A little more info would come in handy like how old is the motor and what fuel are you running

Welcome, Could be any number of things as said before but you came to the right place just give us a little more info and we should get you flipping that thing on its lid in no time.
 
Well its definitely not crappy fuel and your engine should be loosened up at this point. Like I said before, your engine might not be tuned correctly or your clutch might be slipping.

If i remember correctly, the XL comes standard with HPI's aluminum clutch shoes, which IMHO is totally worthless. I mine didn't even lasts one gallon before they were worn down. So i would advise you to check you clutch shoes first. If they are fine give your engine a re-tune and see how it goes.
 
I have an XL and it is not a wheelie machine but I can get it to wheelie good from a stop. The only thing is everytime I get the performance I want out of it it starts getting way too hot on me, like 300+ hot. I notice though it seems to run hotter when I'm running on hard surfaces like flat mowed grass. When I take it to my regular bash spot which is all dirt and gravel it has run much cooler for me. I'm running 16/52 gearing though, with 13/52 that thing should be a wheelie monster LOL! If your motor sounds like its rev-ing quick like it should and your truck just isn't pulling I would say clutch or slipper pad problem. with that gearing you should have no problem with wheelies unless something in the drivetrain is slipping.
 
What clutch shoes work really well in savages? Any suggestions for us?

Also, would sanding the clutch bell lightly help with grip? If so, what grit sandpaper have you guys used successfully, and how long does this fix last before it needs to be done again?

Shoes that come highly recommended is either the nova or the max life shoes with some mugen 1mm shoes.

I run the max life's and mugen spring and they are a huge improvement over the stock teflon shoes. I have however not sanded my cb.
 
Nova shoes are only good for a gallon too. I run the xl shoes on my lrp and it has no issues Wheeling 2nd gear at speed. 18/47... Best clutch I have ia a feroni twin turbo at 3 gallons its not showing wear. it has no issues picking up heavy trucks too. I think most of the issues are that its a K 5.9. the mill is junk no offence. I had and traded one for servos just to unload it. The RTR F 4.6 makes more power all day...
 
None taken, I have heard this plenty already LOL! Unfortunately I'm stuck with the 5.9, probably for quite a while. I think the wife wanted to strangle me as it is after I bought the truck, so I don't think another couple hundred on a new engine is in my near future LOL!!! It doesn't have stump pulling torque or anything and the tune seems very finicky with the weather but I'm still impressed with the 5.9 and it's still a blast to drive, so I'm happy... For a while, LOL! I'm thinking LRP for the future, I haven't heard anyone saying bad things about their engines. It seems like I hear good AND bad about most other companies though, depending on the fanboys of each company.

so back to the clutch shoes my xl came with the aluminum shoes and when i change the clutch bell i noticed they looked very worn all ready. I though about it and i thinks it from me holding onto the thing and doing burnouts on the shop floor. It seemed cool at the time but i don't think ill do that anymore what should i change the shoes to or should i just get another set of stock new ones and learn from my mistake not to hold onto it and gas it ?
