not sure what you mean by "narrowed", like a truggy tire? put up a couple links to tires your considering D.C.S.

a wider tire has a larger "foot print" which means more contact area and a smaller width tire is lighter and more responsive, but a smaller contact patch, but a standard MT tire imo is a happy medium but it also depends on the surface your running on as well.

eric...

I have to agree with Wild. I would say the Truggy size tire will handle better however will get less traction to that of a wider tire on most surfaces.

Tread pattern and compound and surface have much more to do with traction than the size.

^^ Yep not to mention that bigger/heavy rim & tyre combo's are harder for the engine to turn meaning reduced spool up time (that means slower off the line) and more unresponcive steering and the need for gorilla strong servo's and beefier servo savers to match.

I think you mean increased spool up time. A bigger/heavier tire + wheel will have a higher moment of inertia, and thus require more engine power and time to accelerate.

That said, I agree with your analysis. Bigger/heavier tires mean less responsive throttle, braking, and steering. They also increase unsprung mass, which makes the suspension less responsive.
