Hey, guys. I recently changed my spur gear due to... well, my cb ate it. I also switched from a 18/49 combo to a 15/49 combo. Before I changed the truck was hitting 2nd gear fine. However, I learned from a fellow RC guy that I was being sold the wrong glow plugs (os instead of MC, they were too short). I was told that since the plugs were too short, the tuning was waay off for it to have been able to run. So we readjusted it and it works great. Wheelies like crazy and tons of power... but no 2nd gear change.
Should I try leaning my HSN? I do the pinch test and the truck stalls after 5 seconds, so I know the low-end is correct. But I haven't messed with the shift point screw at all. Since the settings were way out of whack due to the shorter glow plug (even though it shifted beautifully), could the adjustments on the needles have thrown off the shift? It revs to the moon, fast as all get out... but no shift. What should I try?
 
mine dies in 3 secs when doing a lsn pinch test,so i,m thinkin urs is a lil rich.when mine didnt shift it was i was way rich on the hsn,i just leaned it out an solved the prob.what are your temps?
 
I can't tell. Would it be able to constantly wheelie if it was always in second though? This is my first Savage so I'm clueless.

If you drive it at 1/2 throttle and you hear it shift, but when you're full throttle you never hear it shift, your slipper is too loose.

If it is doing wheelies, then you probably are not in 2nd and need to adjust your shift points due to the CB change. (adjust to the left)

However you said it was "fast as all get out" There is a big difference in 1st and 2nd top speed. You should be able to tell.

With mine, I always start out slow. But when I'm running hard on the throttle, on occasion I'll see a wheelie in second gear right after the shift. 🙂

But yeah, it sounds like the slipper is too loose. It won't make a shifting sound, since the motor is not dropping RPM's on the spur, but the drivetrain is. That's a sure way to burn out a slipper pad quick. Tighten it all the way down, then back of about 1/4th turn. That usually makes a decent setting.
