tuning my 3-speed

hi everyone i was hoping for some help..i just put my 3speed in and am looking for some advice on tuning the second gear..i already looked at what hpi says to set it at with no luck.(ive only tried 2 times)..anyway i have a 15\52 combo,yes i know thats pretty steep gearing but will soon go 18\52 or someware in that range...but for now the 15\52 needs to be tuned...so what do you all think my second gear should be set at???(how many turns out)..any help will be apreciated ....sorry could help sneek some pics in:FarleyParty:

I guess all i can say is personal preference... it depends on what your driving style is. i have mine set one turn counter clockwise from the stock postion on an XL its gearing is 16/52....:motorcycle:

ive turned it to 3-1\2 turns out and it would not shift into second so i was just wondering what a good base would be to start at,being that you have to take out the tranny to tune it

it could also be a tuning issue believe it or not as these nitro engines depend on rpm to shift so if your running to rich the rpm's don't get high enough to change gears if not then someone here will be able to give better advice I'm hoping as to the right settings for the tranny!! and a nice looking savage there my friend!!!

ive turned it to 3-1\2 turns out and it would not shift into second so i was just wondering what a good base would be to start at,being that you have to take out the tranny to tune it

I would bet money that at 3.5 turns out, it is shifting to third before it shifts to second... I'd try starting off around 1.5 turns out.

I think mud knows this. I want to say at 17 /47 I had it a t 2 turns out but I cant remember. Ill toss this at mud he may know but his will be a different gearing too.

ps K6 1000 here too gsxr1. I like the clean look of that body!

My XL tranny is 2nd gear one turn out, 3rd stock postion, when tuned properly it will shift........ also check your 2nd and 3rd gear buttons mine were covered in thread lock from the factory i cleaned them up and it shifted every time....
