While I had my Savvy front end apart doing the steering post bearing upgrade adn just generally looking at how to get all the play out of my front end I discovered that what I would call the pitman, or idler arm in real car was really sloppy.
I have a car that I ripped down, and am kinda robbing parts off of as I need them. It is that Traxxas N4Tec Pro. Anyways, the steering links on this thing are seriously beefy, with a steel ball instead of plastic.
I had 3 of them, 2 of them are to long by just a hair, and one of those was slightly bent from a meeting with a curb (the one in the pic), but the other was perfect, and fit beautifully
Here is a pic for comparison. The bottom link is the stock HPI link, and the top is the style that I replaced it with.
This little item by itself cut my steering play in half!
The second pic is the actual link installed.

great idea!! thanks for sharing it as its always nice to hear different ways people make there savage better!!

You can switch to the newer style cam type savage servo saver which will get ride of that sloppy old servo saver. Not sure if you have done it yet but bearings in there make a big difference as well.

Yeah, I have the bearings in there. As for the cam type servo saver, I have to save a few bucks to pay for it. Then bye-bye sloppy servo-saver!
And yeah I know it's under $20, but when your disabled and don't get SSI, things are really tough.
