Transmission not shifting smoothly

On my savage sometimes it doesn't change gears nicely. One time it actually got stuck inbetween gears and was reving really high. Most of the time the it runs fine and shifts from 1st to 2nd fine, but when I hit 2nd and then brake sometimes it takes a second or two for it to switch back to 1st. The truck is only a week old and I really just finished breaking it in (about 8 tanks). What would be causing this problem? What would need adjusting? I'm still new to the R/C nitro scene.

is the engine tuned properly ...believe it or not it has alot to do with shifting... I had a new savage ..so many problems ..one of which was it would not shift at all into second...I took the tranny apart ..and turns out I was missing parts ..but in your case ...make sure the engine is tuned ...and check your slipper clutch frequently ...the nut should be turned all the way in and back it off 1/2 turn ...locktite is your best friend...
