Well I tore down my tranny to get ready to shim it and found a ton of metal shavings inside. took it all apart and the left most gear on the pack has 3 small metal screws that hold a housing onto one side of it that holds the 2 speed adjustment housing. turns out all 3 screws backed out and became wedged between the 2 gears wearing everytime I ran my truck. there was no indication there was any issue until now. just a heads up in case anyone wants to tear it down and add some locktite. I will be using the red locktite as soon as the new gear comes.

none of my screws to my owb have ever moved. they must have been a lil loose to back out AJ

I cant post a pic because my sis has my camera. all 3 backed out, I wish when HPI says KIT they allow you to build everything. my tranny came complete. either way I think I have salvaged it. the one gear that got pretty banged up I have a spare of, I also have some extra screws to hold the 2 speed housing on so I'm just gonna lightly sand the face flat and put new screws in with some red thred lock. clean up my case and bearings and go from there. its not really a flaw, but someones brain was on holiday when they were building the 2 speeds to not locktite those screws

itll be up by friday night for saturday morning, I had extra gears and bearings so its in good shape, waiting on ba to send my shims tomorrow via priority, gonna shim, wd 40 and shoot some graphite lube in there and go to town

I've had the exact same with my XSS tranny when it was new. The thing never shifted into 2nd gear. Opened it up and saw exactly what you described...

Thus, I always advice to check the tranny on savages, kit or RTR.
