Tires tend to get the balloon shape when spinning on the air on a sharp turn. Is that bad? In my opinion, that tire has more chances to “touch†the ground than a tire that has been “taped†and doesn’t loose shape! Should I do the mode or not? Any ideas from the Pros?

When the tire balloons that means you have less contact on the ground. You will be slower then a person that has taped tires because he is getting traction. I tape every singly tire before I mount them. Ballooning tires is ugly anyway.

That is good advice right there ^^^. I call them "pizza-cutters" cuz the tread gets thinner as the tire gets taller with rpm. i would think that pizza-cutters also put some stress on the bead.

i used a single-wrap of gorilla tape & my tires hold shape even with the throttle buried on my Crash-Modded mill. listen to how high the mill is revving and keep a close eye on the tires http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RwzjAm3xwHQ

so yea, my advice: tape the tires, mod your mill & let her rip :jamout: rockout

Depends-Racing? Yes all of the above apply.Bashing? I don't see what it hurts..most people watching really dig doughnuts with pizza cutters. Just my 2 cents.

Not sure I completely agree that you will be faster with taped tires, they just will not balloon. Like stated they balloon due to no contact of ground. The reason this tire got off the ground is from sharp turns or a rock or whatever and the tire being lifted off the ground. If this tire is off the ground it's not getting any traction so no propultion.

The tire that spins the most freely (No Load) gets most power.

PS> I tape everything as well and do not like ballooning tires on my trucks as I have seen them blow a part. They look cool on other peoples truck when they are about 15" in Diameter, Kind of funny to me.

when it balloons look at how the ufo is moving it it is actually pulling and pushing the whole knuckle around and can wear out your suspension parts stretch tie rods warp your out drives

OK guys!! I'll tape them! You are right. I had the wrong impression that it only happens when tire is off ground! Yes Savage is fast and yes it does happen at high speeds. Only it wasn't that obvious to me.

Thanks a lot
