i just started on the 4th tank and it seems like i have lost a significant amount of power. the only real change i have made is the fuel i use. the first 3 tanks i was using hpi power fuel 20% and today i am using traxxas top fuel 20%. i heard the traxxas was a little more noob friendly and easier to start. it took awhile to start yesterday but when it started it was running great, i did push it a little hard than i probably should giving it a few full throttle runs of about 6 seconds. today it is a little colder than yesterday and while it was a little bit easier to start with less hsn tinkering once i got it started i had to choke it in order to remove the glow plug and keep choking it for a few seconds on and off to keep it going to grab the remote. the temps it was running at yesterday were about 170-175 (in order to get temps over 200 i have to lean it out more and i think I'm pushing it as is. its about 180 degrees lean from stock) and today i last measured about 130.

is the loss of power mainly because of the fuel not being burned off? or could i have damaged something? today it also sounded a lot boggier than the other runs i have made with it.

is it just bad fuel?

traxxas fuel is junk imo.i would go back to the power fuel and after break in is done i would get byrons ,sidewinder, trinity or something to that affect.

its not really the adapting of the fuel. a motor doesnt change depending on what fuel you use. traxxas fuel uses a whole bunch more oil in the gallon than HPI does. I reccommend eliminator fuel, but i cant get it anymore. so i use byron 20% gen2.

i knew traxxas was crap but around here i think thats all we have. the hpi stuff came with my truck. looks like ill be buying in 4 gallon cases monthly *sigh*

traxxas fuel is junk in everyones opinion.i would go back to the power fuel and after break in is done i would get byrons ,sidewinder, trinity or something to that affect.

fixed it for you.

i just started using odonells and i love it..you will notice a loss in power with traxxas because its running alot richer..

Did you retune the truck ? Any change must be tuned back in. On the 4th tank you wont see any power anyways. You got about 3/4 of a gallon to go b4 that mill makes its power to lose.

wow so there is even more than what i have seen left in it? i was impressed with it already ha. sweet. this is my first real rc so I'm not sure what to expect

dude, you didnt read the instructions whatsoever..i hope your engine isnt bad word

it shouldnt even be close to decent performance in anyones mind..it should be an overweight hybrid slug brick.

yea i did actually read the instructions and i did idle through my first tank then i read up on some other break in methods and I'm only really going about half throttle right now. its runniong fine now after i switched back to the hpi fuel

i turned in 1/8 increments in order to get it started. i never go over 180 degrees with it. it was not turning over with the stock rich setting at all it was spewing fuel out the exhaust

ok. ive noticed it being sluggish now. maybe i was just overwhelmed cause I'm not used to something liek this hehe. i see now that i have been running it slower than i thought i was.

I'm starting on my 7th tank now, would it be ok to lean out a little bit yet?

go for it bud. remember some smoke is a good thing. start with hsn and make 1/8 increments until you get the settings you are looking for. lsn usually is not too far off where it should be

imo lsn should have more smoke then hsn. i adjust until performance is set so that the truck accelerates smoothly if i put to half throttle. when you say it is a pain to start is it because it won't start or is it locking( flooding)?

i figure its a heat issue because once its cranked and warmed up a few times its good to go. it locks occasionally but its not an issue

thats all i have been messing with. how far is too far when i start leaning it out for speed and power? btw thanks for all the help.

thats not good you want it over 200F every time. under 200 is not good for it.

Give this link a look. good for people learning. stick with it and have a blast my man!
