Stuck in second gear

Last week my buddy and I were ripping around together and he hit my savage head on with his buggy. Seemed to do minor damage at the time, just popped 2 shocks and bent up the bumper. Since then, any time I try and run it, I have been having weird shift issues.

At first it was stuck in first gear and seemed to run rough at high rpm. It would launch great and wheelie but once maxed out, would just stay in first gear and run rough. I tried to adjust the shift setting and then it would seem to shift super early no matter where the set screw was set at. I tried setting everything back to normal, and now it just starts in second gear and stays there. runs great and flys at the top end, but really boggs out in low rpms until the gearing takes over.

i think u need to take ur tranny apart and see if u broke something

clutch shoes? my cousin had a bad landing the other day and had the same problem your describing. turn out he had damaged his clutch shoes. maybe worth a look.

are you talking about the clutch shoes on the motor, or the clutch in the trans?

on the motor. They were the Teflon shoes and some how he had striped two of them??? we ordered some hpi aluminium shoes and now its fine. I'm jusy guessing here but worth a look.
