What are some causes for this?

I finally got my truck running pretty good yesterday when I bent a dogbone that out me down till today when I could get to my lhs.

I ran 2½ tanks today. No hard bashing just running on asphalt and grass. I packed it up and brought it home to run a little before it got dark and WHAMMO! My spur stripped.

Is stripping something that just happens as normal wear or do I have something outta line somewhere maybe?

The mesh felt really good and the stripped spur had ~1½ gallons on it.

Most of the time the cause of stripped spur is to loose of gear mesh. Secondly is hear. When you install a new one make sure there is little slop no more than 1mm.

Also check your motor plate for cracks and check everything for tightness. It could just be wear and tear but I have had plastick spurs last for atleast 3 gallons.

I know you said you were driving nicely, but landing a jump on throttle is the #1 way to strip one.

Simple and dirt cheap fix though.

you have the x trans case too, so you can take off the roll cage, and 4 more screws and the top of the trans comes off making it easier for spur gear replacement.

don't feel bad, i strip one every 3-4 tanks for some reason.
