Just got my second savage, and this one was in a front end crash. I believe the crash pushed the servo horn toward the back of the truck and now I can't hook up the steering line. Is there a way to put adjust where the horn lines up with power to the servo? Also, do these stock servos usually make a lot of noise?

The only way to adjust the linkage is to do what I just got done doing to my savage. Which is buy a tie rod linkage that you can adjust to whatever length you need. As for the stock servo making noise the servo should only make noise when it's turning. I'd say it might be a casualty in the crash.

sounds like a destroyed servo, also while replacing it, look for signs of other damage in front end, that way when getting parts you do it at one time.

I was reading that! you need to post a video of it turning, and the linkage set up , I was going to ask you if the linkage made a big difference, ive always ran stock, figured it worked ok, but I know I should upgrade it! I have bearings in servo saver with a savox 1267 I think and a 2500 hump pack .

What's a cheap servo I can use as a replacement? On a new servo can you adjust the servo horn?

    Thanks for the replies!

I am not happy with using my savox 1257 servo for steering , not enough torque! I am looking at the protek, 130t with 288 torque and .10 speed for 80.00. Savox is only about 138 torque. Just need more power.

Just did more searching on ebay to see what else there is in the savox line , but this seems to be the best all around servo as far as I can find, thanks for leading me on to it bifftit! Just have to move that 1267 over to throttle now!

i was using 1267's in my steering and they got moved to throttle and i am working on selling the lot of 0251's i hd in the throttles. 1267 looks like it will be really hard on linkeages if you don't tame it down some

I just put a protek 100ss in there and it is awsome, may just hold that savox for a backup or something. The 1270 should crank those wheels plenty good!

ive been thinking, if I purchase the 1270 savox, will it be to powerful and tear up other parts in the steering assembly?

Not usually, most radios come with a dual rate knob which will limit steering throw to keep from banging off the stops all the time... also end points adjusted correctly can be a good idea also....

I usually run my dual rate at about 80% and set the end points so it just touches the stops with dual rate at 100% so by backing down the dual rate you can save some headache with tore up parts...

Plenty of power , even at 6.0v.

the only reason i bought such hefty servos was becase it made the most cost vs oz of torque sense. I could just as well bought lesser servos for the same price or way more. the savox were the best "bang for the buck" of all the servos i looked at in that $70 - $90 price range. I don't get much of a chance to run my trucks anymore, so a couple $150 servos would hve been a total waste if i were to decide to sell my Rc off today. Cheap-asses nowadays would only fraction my $600 trucks and would be pretty much giving all my upgrades away and probably the trucks too.

360+ oz of torque in a savage is considerable when the SF50 only puts out a couple hundred oz and thats what i used for a long time for steering with no issues whatsoever. I dunno why people always judge servos and steering while the truck is sitting idle on a chunk of carpet. if i have steering issues, i usually put a tire or something under the front to test it out
i rarely just sit there and steer for the fun of it. when i am steering, my trucks are moving and usually at a high rate of speed.

I had a 65gmc pickup that the previous owner had put power steering into. it didnt come off the line with power steering. that thing was a BEAR to steer when not moving , but if it was moving just a little, steering took no effort at all. point being: it rare that a person just steers for shits and giggles

Yup, I have been been running on an 1/8 track and found steering to be bad, couldn't make the starter turns, any thing over 250 would be fine, that's why I was also looking at protek 130t at .10 speed and 288 oz of torque, that and the savox 1270

Just cause they advertise water proof don't mean it will run after you dunk it in water.

Water resistant is goid enough for me. I am aware i am not to expect my savage to run after i run it in the lake. No false premisces going on here

Run that waterproof servo through the lake and expect it to run. The golden gate bridge is for sale in my backyard here in Nort Deekoter, too. You buyin it?

haven't bought servo yet, may buy this weekend, not like I'm going to run it in the next couple weeks, between work, and all the rain, I ll probably get the savox 1270, but the protek 130t was my other option but 90$ for it, was the thing that made my decision to the savox!
