My wheels are starting to flake off the fake black chrome. Anyone sand or remove the old paint and spray bomb them with new paint?

cool thanks 429. what kinda paint sticks better than that? Just a spray bomb?

Never found a way to stop the chrome flaking, the problem with chrome on wheels is the wheel flexes and the chrome cannot so it chips and flakes.....

I usually just remove it entirely and use krylon plastic paint on the wheels to match my paint scheme

I'm dredging up an old thread because I was wondering how well the oven cleaner works to remove flaking chrome from rims? Does it leave the plastic rims tacky/gummy soft surface like acetone does?

use the non fume ovencleaner and soak em good, then when the chrome starts to lift scrub em down good and rinse with water.....
