OK hear we go i got a XL 5.9 savage i have been racing it 4 a couple of weeks now and last time i raced my steering stared acting funny it drives like a semi wont turn sharp at all some times one will turn fined 1 way but not the other so i tried setting the saver spring now whats 2 tight 2 set it or wear do i set it pleas help ty plus i just put another stock servo in it

stock servos arent that hot to begine with, so i suggest goin out and buying yourself a decent MG servo. I believe i run a HiTec HS640MG and it does pretty good considering i have huge tires on it. If you race, you might even want better then this yet.

yes the hitec 645mg will make a big difference and move your stock steering servo to your throttle-brakes which improves braking and throttle response...

you can tighten it down until it takes a fair bit of force to activate the servo saver, Ive had similar problems with the nut backing off, add some thread lock and it should be all good.

he does not need a stiffer spring, whats with telling everyone they need hop-ups for every problem?

at best he needs a new servo as was said already.

Well if he just tightens down his servo saver he will just end up stripping his servo and have to upgrade regardless and if he does upgrade his servo a stiffer spring will help with his steering.

I believe hpi recommends setting the servo saver at 4mm from the start of the threads to the bottom of the nut you can see an illustration of it here http://www.hpiracing.com/graphics/instr/pdf/861.pdf i think its on page 20.

ty all that's what i wanted 2 know was how tight 2 set it i got it turning and it don't plow ty ty and i seen the post on the spring i will get 1 soon a pirate spring right

you could have started off by reading his top post, when he explains "last time i raced my steering stared acting funny" so me having had the same issue i spoke up about the nut backing off. i said nothing about tightening the nut down to make the saver useless so i don't know where YOU are getting that from, 4mm is just a starting point, not all are the same.

oh and btw mabey suggest a hopup after the problem is solved.

thank you

4mm is so that it will have the right amount of throw for the servo saver if you tighten the nut much more the servo saver is practically useless try it out for yourself

hello well i just order a monster pirate servo saver kit with bearings should get them next week plus i order a set of big bores 4 it last week should get my shocks sat looking 2 buy a savage suspension conversion set but they r kind of price what do u r think of the suspension conversion YOU ALL HAVE GOOD INFORMATION ty

hello all just put my monster pirate spring saver in 2day and barrings what a different on the steering slop all most all of it gone still waiting 4 my big bore hope they come tomorrow ty guys

a better thing to do is get a stiffer spring for the servo saver instead of tightning down the nut so that you still have a operable saver

I have just upgraded steering servo to a HS-7955TG and my servo saver spring is way to soft for the servo!!

Please can somebody tell me what other springs I can use? I need something a bit stiffer but don't know what will fit??

I did see a thread a few weeks ago saying what other spring can be used but I cant find the thread :duh:
