i just finished resetting my engine after swapping out my spur gear and clutch bell with http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXLSU4 and http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXLST9 when a manually spin the spur gear half of the rotation is clean and the mesh feels pretty good the second half of the rotation feels a little bitey. i can chew a strip of paper through the whole thing without it tearing but i'm not 100% satisfied with the mesh. should i keep playing with it and see if i can get this bitey area to smooth out a bit or is this fairly common ? ... or is it possible that either my new clutch bell or spur gear is out of round causing this ?

thanks for the help.

I'm in sticker-shock over a $50 spur gear.

sounds to me like the spur isnt tru caz if your c/b was at an angle to cause a bind it would happen through the whole rotation & not just in 1 spot.

yeah, i wasn't crazy about the $50 bucks, but it sure looks sweet. i was thinking the same thing about one of them not being true, i loosened up the mesh a bit, it feels better and doesn't bite anywhere anymore, but i still question if one of them is out of round.

i meant to add to my other post that its probably gonna be fine as long as you get a good mesh on her. id bet barely any of em are perfectly round.
