I changed out the 47t for a 49t and found that in the front of the spur gear where there is usually a brass hex bushing it was repalced with a ball bearing could this cause a problem? should I go buy the brass bushing and put it back in? the guy at the hobby shop didn't really have an answer for me other than he'd never seen it before.

This is fine. You shouldnt need to use the bushing/bearing much if your spur is adjusted properly (tight enough). The Robinson racing ones come with a bearing also. The bearing is there to create less wear in the spur ever slips as the bushing would wear if rather quickely.

Agreed. A friend of mine was having lots of spur gear problems until he replaced the bushing with a 5x11x4mm bearing. I don't recall the specific reasons, but it really helped save his spur gears!
