Hello all, was searching for charge jacks for my DX2.0 and came across a few threads and videos of people converting their 2.0's to 3.0's, 4 model memory and 3 channel. Was wondering if anyone here has tried this before I tear into my radio.

* I am in no way taking credit for this nor fault if someone screws their radio up*

Pretty Neat. Simple mod, but I don't think I will try it.


What's up with that other screen he put on the top in the pictures at the bottom of the tutorial?

well IDK if I cooked the resister taking it and moving it but I have 4 model memory and no 3rd channel every thing else works fine.. So till I get a new resister no go for me...
 
How hard is it to solder something that small? To say someone who's never done any circuit board soldering whatsoever? lol

I have a soldering iron, in fact i have 2, why i don't know :dunno: never used 'em

Only soldering i ever do is sweatin copper pipes, done a fair bit of welding and brazing though.
 
humm, my guess would be that you did cook it, doesnt take much, and to get the 4 model you just remove that resistor, so it should work no matter what. got any old PC motherboards laying around, bet you can find a 1.000 ohm resistor

Soldering them on is easy as pie if you got solid hands and good eyes. I held it in place with tweezers as I got one side on. Then just finished up. I also used rosin as well not just rosin core. You want ultra fine solder too talking 0.0155 think stuff if you can get it.

Thanks Bank, my hands are fine but my eyes i cant say the same about, il need to use a magnifyer i think lol the old eyes aint what they used to be.

Il shop around for some fine solder this weekend :resp:
 
this is just a thought but by the time you heat up a smd to remove it and one more time to reinstall it ,it's tolerances go out the window maybe 30-50%. You could go to RS and get a 5 pack of 1/4 watt 5% 1K for .99 cents part no.271-1321 just cut about half the leads of and bend them back on each other till they fit ,sorry for being so long lol
 
Bank have you got around to putting another resistor into the radio and seeing if this works as described?
