hey everyone, first off i apologize if this has been asked before. i'm just curious as to how tight everyone runs their slipper clutch? i'm running the stock 2 speed tranny on my x 4.6. when i had the 3 speed in there i ate threw spur gears and slipper's like there was no tomorrow, could never find the balance.

the manual says once its tight enough, you should be able to spin the spur with a lot of effort, but i find that's too lose due to wear and the power of the engine. but i'm hesitant to go too tight, cause i like to jump my truck. i'm good at getting off the gas on landings, or at least easing up on the throttle a good deal. i obviously notice the truck picks up and runs much better the tighter it is, i just don't want to wear out the slipper or the spur after a run. just looking for a little advice and wondering how others here do it.

i had the same problem. last time i did it i cranked the nut tight till it couldnt possibly go another turn. then backed it off 1/8 turn. its almost not backed off at all. i was getting very frustrated by the slipper. PS., how far from Boston are you? if your ever up for a road trip to bash with a bunch of us, lmk.

sounds like you crank it pretty tight there. how's the gear/pad holding up being that tight all-in-all?

i'm about an hour and maybe 30-45 minutes south of boston. i'm less than 15 minutes south of providence. when me and my buddy's take the subway into boston, we drive maybe about 50 minutes to quincy adams, then from there's it's about another 50 minutes. the drive is typically over an hour and a half. when i bash with a buddy of mine it's usually either at a local highschool or at an r/c track at a local park. we like to stay somewhat close cause, well, i like to break stuff and he doesn't really 'get' the hobby yet, and my answers aren't good enough for him. lol.

we can come to you too. Ray (judicator) and I normaly have a full x worth of parts between us too. nuts to TVPs we got ya covered ..

lol that's pretty sweet. yeah man, if you guys would want to come down for a little bashing, by all means. the more the merrier. my schedule can be difficult to work around right now, but i'll let you guys know the next time me and my buddy plan to run.

holds up great caz there is very minimal slippage/wear. i heard that, bash close to an LHS for parts & breakage.

used to deliver a lot of costume jewelry to E.Prov & a lot of toyz to hasbro in pawtucket, w.warwick , etc.

thats pretty sweet. i'm in warwick. west warwick is about 10 minutes from me... though, in ri everything's 10 minutes away. lol.

If we are still talking about slippers, I run mine tightened all the way down. I am just careful not to land "on throttle"
