Guys i was wondering if my sliper pad was ok today so took it off and this is what i came across :duh: :

do you guys have any idea what could have caused this ???

excessive heat would be my first guess. This has happened to me as well. At least for my issue it was. I did not have the nut tightened down enough. So when I was going through some taller grass it put more resistance on the drive train. This caused my slipper to do what it was designed to do. But a little too much.

i agree magoo with the heat reason, and i think when you have a full throttle from stoping alot of times the sliper cant take that much of power from the engine

another thing that cross my mind with this damage is the heat come the CB. i notice keep happening when i use aluminium clutch shoe. aluminium shoe generate a lot of heat in the CB which transferred to the metal spur. when it is hot enough the slipper pad weaken thus destroyed..

Mine is almost as bad but I would think that an XL would still wheelie if the nut was really tight. It should take the pad out of the equation when it is tightened down but I'm gonna replace mine anyway and see what it does. I think mine won't wheelie because of the clutch shoes.

How did this go sudi? I messed up my slipper today where my spur was just spinning freely.. I'm curious to see how this worked out for u.

I always run with mine tightened all the way down and have had no problems as a result. Sure, I occasionally smoke a spur but it's plastic and those things happen. It's an engineered weakness in the drive train. That's why I don't run steel spurs.

I might have to do that when i get my new slipper tomorrow.. Just crank her all the way down. Yeah i don't run steel at all. Thanks mang.

I threw a new one in mine and then tightened it down. Still won't wheelie good but I was on gravel and dirt mostly. Gonna try new clutch shoes next.
