Single Speed Gearbox With Pics Mod ????
Hi there guys i have been looking at the idea of how to set up a single speed gearbox for the racing savage's around the world.
I have tested the second gear in a 2 speed box wound right out so the car starts in 2nd and using the 17/47 set up with a modified picco ( purenitro - extreme rc mods ) the truck launches of the line hard and has enough gearing to be peaking in rpm's at the 40 mitre mark which is enough for most straights on off road race tracks.
I then removed the the centre gear shaft in the 2 speed box and removed the 1st gear completly leaving the one way bearing to fill the space on the shaft before fitting the 2nd gear into place.
NOW FOR THE FUN BIT : I then made a custom delrin clutch replacement which replaces the flick clutch that fits into place and secures the 2nd gear into place so as it is fixed into place with a threaded pin screw and grub srew to hold it into place.
So i have tested it and with the lighter gearbox the spur gear and drivetrain spools up faster and when the brakes are applied the c/b shoes and springs close just like a truggy set up, the truck was spinning off the line on concrete which was insane.
HAS ANYONE ELSE TRYED THIS - OR DO YOU HAVE ANY FEED BACK ABOUT THIS AS I HAVE A LITTLE CONCERN ABOUT THE SUDDEN STOPPING OF THE GEARBOX USING THIS METHOD - SO FAR SO GOOD WITH 2 TANKS ON THE SET UP ?????
