I am thinking of upgrading my shocks, as I already have oil weeping from one of my stock ones after only 1 run out :duh: I have checked the seals and orings, they are all tightened down.

I have been looking at a few threads on here, but have also spotted these:

What do you think of them? anything better within a simalar price range?

Thanks!

Those are a pretty horrible shock, unless its a shelf queen. For function and cost the stock savage shock is awesome. The losi conversion is great also. Some are bragging about the cen gst shocks but a bit of modding is in order to get them right.

While cleaning my savvy last night, I noticed a lot of oil weeping from all 4 front shocks. I removed the connecting bolt from the shock tower and manually pushed down on each of the 4 front shocks. There was hardly any resistance. I checked the shock cap to ensure that they were screwed on tight (I don't think it is possible to get them much tighter) yet the shock oil still appears to be weeping!

I have checked the O rings, which would appear to look fine.

..are they buggered, or have I just overfilled them from the start causing too much pressure inside the shocks making them leak? From what I could see from the filling instructions it said to fill them to the top and slowly move the rod up and down to remove any trapped air then top up oil and recap.

I have seen a few alternatives on ebay, the aluminium ones look a little more robust (not the piggyback ones) as I have read that most of them don't actually work that well.

I have beeing looking to buy some of thoes big bore shocks, but I can't actually find anywhere to buy them!

However, while looking from them.. I came across some others, which are actually threaded! I am not sure if they will fix the Savage (I have emailed the sales team and wait for their reply)

Here is a link to them

If they will fit, and are of a decent quality then they are a really cheap alternative!!

ya i think blazers right they look pretty short!! but they look like nice shocks though

I run 8 CEN Nemesis 7.7 shocks on my savy. They are slightly shorter than the stock and take away some of the "big truck" suspension travel. With the stock towers, you will have a truggy style droop to your savage. (Which is what I wanted because my truck has Low Center of Gravity Chassis, and extended wheel width for racing)

If you want the standard droop, and travel that you get with the stock shocks you have to modify a bracket for the shocks.

Heres a link in which one of HPISF's members made a bracket for the stock ride height he was wanting

Personally I like the CEN shocks, they are built really well, and so far (after a month of abuse) I have had no problems what so ever. Of course everyone has their favorite! :dunno:

check these out, there is still time to get in on the deal, https://www.hpisavageforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4706 there is a group buy going on in the thread for HPI's new big bore shocks.

also you might want to call HPI about your shock problems, explain what is happening and they just might take care of you, they have great customer service.
