Sup guys!

So for some reason my savage wont shift into 2nd....I turned the allen inside the transmission counter clockwise a couple times but its still not shifting into 2nd. How many turns CCW are your trucks??

Is your truck new? I was driving a one this weekend that had just been broken in and I couldn't get it to shift either. It was set as 3 1/2 turns from factory and I had backed it out another 2 1/2 and still no shift. We ran out of time and so I didn't get to mess with it.

well my truck is not new but my transmission is. how does the tranny know when to shift? is it just by shear spin of gears inside or does the spur gear side of it have anything to do with shifting?

Yep it is off of RPM's. Make sure your motor is getting the RPM's. Like Blazer said if your motor is too rich it will not make enough RPM's to shift.

i see...i have the allen screw inside the transmission at about halfway (not fully in and not fully out) on the screw hole. is this about right?

I know I replied to this thread earlier, but I guess I didn't hit the submit button...Duh.
Whats the Spur/CB gearing your running now, Air borne?

That might be a reason their............what motor?

I am running a 14/49............was running a 15/49 and I like those 2 gearings

Did you make sure your slipper clutch was tight? also check your clutch shoes. if they are slipping too badly your tranny won't shift, no matter how many rpm's you have

Air borne,
If you can, get the screws back to fractory settings and and try a 17/47.
Also like SJ said... make sure there's no slipper cluch issues.

This is where I love my dirrect drive spur.... There's no mistery about slipping.

Put on the standard sized tires or bigger for this test.
If this doesn't fix it, Then will know that it's a tranny issue.

And be sure that the mill is tune on the slightly rich side of things.
That will help insure getting the rpm's up.

i have an axial .28RR

i think my tuning is also messed up...when i full throttle at a full stop it kind of bogs a bit before taking off....sometimes the engine will bog then stall.

Sounds abit rich on the hsn.

You can test the lsn with the "pinch test"

This can be an additional cause to your shifting conserns.

keep us posted.

what exactly is a "direct drive spur gear"?:dunno: and do u have a link? as I'm interested in buying one if it eliminates issues

my engine idles pretty decently when its warmed up...someone said earlier that it wont shift if its too rich, does this mean rich on the hsn or rich on lsn or just rich in general?

When it's bogging like you say, That's an indication that the fuel is loading up in the crankcase and causing a little bit of hydro lock...

Like it's almost flooded... Correct this by leanning the hsn a 1/4 turn.

Report report back your results.

My mill just put me through the same paces.
