Shifting from 1st to 3rd possible?

Hi my savage xl had a recent engine swap to a lrp .28 now that the break in is over the truck was not shifting at all. I took my truck to a guy who fixes them and now its shifting but only once. The truck has pretty good speed so my question is is it possible its shifting from 1st to 3rd or am i stuck in 2nd gear? Also can it be that is starting in 2nd going to 3rd cause it does lack some low end thanks lmk.

sounds like its skipping 1st ... mine was doing same thing when i first swapped out the transmissions ... 3 speeds are a pita... rather have a 2 speed with sweet gearing on it ...

Yea it does lack bottom end I'm ussing the same gearing i had on the 5.9 52/17 and the 5.9 had alot more punch. How do I set the 1st speed? Thanks lmk

Can i adjust the shift point from the side of the case or i have to open it to get 1st to engage? Thanks lmk
