Ok, so heres the deal, i stripped out first gear in my 3 speed tranny(the screws came loose). I decided to go ahead and finish off the tranny with metal, so i ordered the HR steel first gear. Direct replacement, 44t. I figured that while it was apart i would go ahead and throw the high speed 3rd gear in it. Now it wont shift at all. Positive that the 2nd and 3rd shift buttons are in their correct place(made that mistake once already). The OWB in first gear is grabbing fine, not slipping at all. Positive that the shift buttons are facing the correct way. Slipper clutch is torqued down. Clutch shoes are brand new. Motor is screaming, running about 230-250, but tranny never leaves first gear. Will pull wheelys though. :duh: The rest of the drivetrain is completely free, rolls fine forward and backwords w/ tranny in. Shift points wernt messed with during the changing of parts. Still, tryed adjusting them both ways all the way. Nothing. Adjusted second and third shift points both. Am i just missing something? Seems like in all respects it should be shifting???? Any help is GREATLY appreciated.

My second gear in my three speed needed to be tuned... it just would not shift till i tuned it... also when i took it apart there was thread locker all over the buttons and the idler shaft and inside the buttons so i took it all apart and cleaned it all up backed off the second speed adjustment screw and i was in buisness....i like my second gear to kick in pretty early so i backed mine out quite a bit but thats just personal preference....

Not trying to start anything, but the 3 speed and 2 speed trans will not shift if your motor is not in tune....these trannys work off of rpm ranges useing centrifical force to make the shifts happen....some times when out of tune the traanny is actually shifting but you can't hear it becaus it is so quick.
Just my 2cents.

Refrence this thread for tune on trans..... https://www.hpisavageforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1771

have you tried puling the little flippers that come out and grab the gears up? They could have rust or parts of the torn up gear inside them and thats keeping the shifts from happening for you.

No offense taken, my tune was just fine, from the factory its set up for long high speed runs. i mostly bash at a BMX track so i wanted it shift into second sooner to get more speeds on the jumps.. :motorcycle:

Non taken, the motor is running good, it takes off great, no bogging, but it tops out quikly at an extremely high RPM. The "flippers" move freely, i can easily pull both out. Both shift knobs are clean also, iv checked it mulitiple times, plus they don't even have a tank of gas on them.
