Ended up getting 2 hitec 645, but now having some trouble fitting them...goto last post of thread.

Hey guys, looks like I fried my SF-1 throttle/brake servo somehow. Gears aren't stripped but it sometimes only works in one direction and sometimes doesn't work at all. Might have been due to some snow, but 3 days later it worked fine in dry conditions for about 30mins, then suddenly cut out.

I just took apart the servo to look for....well, something that looked broken lol Structurally everything looked fine. Now after I put the gears back together, I turned on the Tx and barely touched the throttle and the gears pop off and the servo spins at top speed continuously until I turn off the Rx. Tried putting the case back on, and servo just jammed and wouldn't turn. So I'm assuming there is a correct position for the gear(s), of which I am unaware of...so is there a specific direction that the notch on the top gear is supposed to be pointed?

Anyways...

I'm running the Savage X 4.1, stock servos, receiver, and Tx. Seems like many people normally move the steering servo to the T/B servo and replace the steering. I'd like to only buy one servo instead of two until my budget opens up a little.

So I guess I'm just looking for a steering servo at this time...suggestions/recommendations?

I've done some browsing but I'm not exactly sure what servo specs are compatible, in terms of size and compatibility with stock Rx/Tx; I'm sure someone can clear that up for me easily.

What is your budget for a new servo? This would everyone to recommend the best servo on what you want to spend.

Oh yeah...Welcome to the Forum!!!!

Thanks for the welcome, switched from another forum due to a bunch of immature clowns.

Anyways, I don't need anything extravagant, maybe under $40??? Only use the truck for light bashing/off-roading and I wasn't totally disappointed with the SF-2 to begin with

whip's suggestion is great and other options are hitec 645 and the one I'm using which is the futaba s3305 all have metal gears, just your choice and do you have a hump pack?

yes, I have a hump pack for the 6v ratings. I'm completely new to the electronics part of things and have a lot to learn. I noticed that the suggested Hobbico servo says it is digital...I may be wrong, but I thought digital servos required an FM transmitter. I'm still going to be using the RTR HPI Tx.

Also, (lots of questions I have) for my purposes, what would be a decent torque and speed rating for steering and T/B servo?

I ended up grabbing 2 Hitec 645mg's for throttle and steering duties. I noticed that the stock Savage servo horn doesn't fit onto the hitec bc the horn diameter is too wide. I just assumed that it would be a direct fit, but you know what they say about assuming....

Anyways, what parts do I need to match them up?
