Servo extentions,

I was woundering I bought a servo extention for my mid tank mod and it too long. is there a was I can shorten it with the leads that are there already?Cheers!:beer:

just cut a small section out of the middle and place shrink wrap on it the solder it together.
just make sure you leave about and inch of wire on both conecters so its easy to peel the insulation back

I tryed that on a servo once before but the solder had interference after from the wire touching... I tryed to elec tape it it looked like crap. Can I reuse the leads?

i don't think you can once the ends of the wires are crimped its final, did u use tape or shrink wrap? if you use shrink
wrap you wont get interference as long as you cover all the exposed area.

what kind of shrink wrap? just the stuff for food and stuff?

na if you go to a radio shack (or somthing similaar)

any place that sells electrical wire (I'm not sure what stores u have in canada) any hardware store

just cut a piece long enough to cover the exposed area thats soldered and then take a lighter and run it back and fourth under the wrap, it will shrink and cover the area, just don't use to much heat or it will melt the shrink wrap.
also make sure you place the cut piece on the wire before soldering or you wont be able to get it on, once soldered, slide the wrap over the solder joint and the use the lighter.

pipes, when you cut the wires, don't cut all three straight across, cut 1 then move down 1/8", cut the second, move down 1/8" & cut the 3rd. that way the wires arent all exposed in the same place.

then go to a hardware store (not home depot or lowes) and get some liquid electrical tape to cover the exposed wires & then put on the shrink tube & shrink it with a lighter.

you could always buy a DIY servo extension kit with connectors off the bay and make the wires exactly the length that makes you happy. $9 shipped you cant beat it.
