I keep telling everyone I'm a newbie at this so don't make fun of me when i ask stupid questions like this. I purchessed 2 1200 hump packs but now I'm wondering whats the best way to secure them and is there a way to charge the pack without taking that stupid cover off every time?

First of all this is a no flame forum people here will always help you no matter how stupid your question may sound.

ok now to the topic, you can either place them in the radio box or on the front shock tower with zipties. As for the charging i don't know what truck you got some of them have a charging port that comes out of the radio box and some don't. But my advise is that if you like your truck charger your batts outside of your truck. Things can and will go wrong one of the members here frddyj had his pack blow up on him and my pack shorted out when charging in the truck from then on i always charge my batts out of the truck .

ya it should fit right in the radio box as was said..and this is one forum were you don't get put down for not knowing everything,i still learn new things all the time lol so never be afraid to ask questions my friend!!!!

I have the XL, but I think they all have the same size radio box. Mine fits in there with a little room to spare. I'm going to put a small piece of foam in there just to prevent it from sliding back and forth. There is really no reason not to put it in the radio box unless your going to do a mid-tank mod or something. I'm assuming by the post that your truck is all stock. The battery should drop right in. Also, my radio box has a charging port on the driver side, it has a small square-shaped rubber plug to prevent dirt and moisture from getting in through there. I don't know if they all have that or not.

gotta ask caz you said "them." your only putting 1 pack in there at a time right? hump pack will fit right in your stock radio box.

ya I'm pretty sure he mentioned he had bought a 4.6 for his son as well in another thread so so I'm assuming thats why the 2 hump packs!! lol

Instead of Velcro, I strongly recommend this instead - it is the same stuff used to attach your EZ-Pass to your windshield (available in white and black) - you want part number 96055K41 - it is by the foot, but only one half - so if you want 1 foot of 2 sides (one for each thing you are attaching to each other) you need 2 feet:

As for how to charge it easily, you can use one of these charger ports on the side of your radio box assuming you have the space on the side of your radio box, but it will require the use of a switch that has an additional wire (EXAMPLE).

I do this on my rigs, but try to keep the lid open to dissipate heat. I don't want the battery to overheat and eat the gear inside 🙂

Hope this helps!

Bob
