I'm a nubie and this is my first RC....

My savage xl's breaks lock up nice and tight however when I release the breaks on the controler the servo returns to neutral and releases the breaks but the metal pads stay locked up with the roters. I feel like my acceleration is suffering and puting undo stress on the breaks and drivetrain.

Is this normal? I've thought about putting small springs between the pads... Would this work?

When the truck is sitting on your table or where ever with radio and receiver power on everything in the neutral position, does the truck drag when rolling back and forth or does it bind and not roll easily.

no it won't drag until I hit the breaks then it binds up. If I give it gas it'll loosen up and start rolling freely after a second or two. Maybe this is normal it just seem like it should have some kind of release spring to release the breaks when the operator isn't applying them.

I differentially know its not normal. Every Savage I have seen including the new XL's do not have break stick with the linkage and everything set correctly. The only thing I can really say is I would rebuild the brakes and see if anything was put together correctly. Check that that little brass pad that pushes against the brakes moves correctly.

I would also like to say, welcome to the HPI Savage forum. Don't be afraid to ask any question you may have. Thats what keeps the forum alive.
