I can't find any info on this anywhere! I have the stock terra-pins and purchased a set of HPI Goliath tires for my savage xl. Just for fun I put the Goliath on the back and terra-pins on the front. I think it looks pretty good if I do say so myself lol. What I want to know is if this setup can cause any harm (tried it in the yard for a couple of minutes and it seemed to work pretty good.) The O.D. of the tires are about the same but the goliaths are a bit wider. Has anyone ever done this or similar with there trucks? Is there anything to gain or lose with a setup like this? Any help on this would be appreciated, hopefully there are a few "experts" out there that can give some in depth answers. thanks

i know its not what your askin, but the tires on the back make your truck look sick :jamout:
 
Thanks, I understand that but as I said the tires are just about the same on the O.D. The back ones are only wider, so the rear has a bit wider of a stance.
 
might look good but i agree it will cause alot of unnecessary wear and strain on the drivetrain. ones going to want to spin faster then the other.
altho now that i think of it i did run some stocker dirt bonz and mixed in some 40 series bow ties. seemed to work find but I'm, BUT i didn't run it like that for more then a tank, then pack it up. i did that few times and it seemed to be fine.
 
Hi, I see where it says tire sizes on web sites but when putting both tires together (maybe there is a bit of wear on the goliaths) I have used straight edges with all tires side by side but definitely there is not a 8 mm difference on mine, maybe 2 or at the most 3 mm. Would that still be bad for the diffs? What about having the exact same O.D. only slightly narrow in the front? I used to see alot of older trucks (probably rear wheel drive) like that. I just think it would handle good and look good. thanks again
 
its not only the diameter its also the width and weight, they are probally heavier witch will also cause u problems. the ones that run the bigger tires in the rears are 2wd.
 
Ok I can see where the O.D. would make a difference and the weight somewhat but the width should not matter in any way that I can think of?
What about doing all those wheelies? Even if you have the same tires the rear are digging into the ground while the fronts are spinning out of control so a couple of mm in the fronts should not be much different? I guess there is alot more variables then I was originally thinking.
 
give it a shot man, it will either work or cost u a little bit of $, the width could effect it cuz more grip also it will most likely equal more weight.
 
Thanks Baddasz Guess i'll have to be the guinea pig, then maybe I can help someone else sometime. I think this is an Interesting topic and hope more people read it and add their thoughts and experiences on the subject.
