Hey folks, great to find this forum as I’m a long time savage 25 owner and a bit of a collector of HPI and Hot Bodies RC. I’ve just picked up a very cool Savage XL Octane and giving it a good look over it seems to have the metal pins missing from both bulk heads. These locate into the TVPs above the fixing screws and part 86803. From a look around on line I see some X bulkheads come with these and some don’t. Is there an option to get these bits separately as I would like them to add strength and a bit confused why they would be missing leaving just a hole? Thanks in advance for any advice or feedback on this.

Funny I brought some easy excess bulk heads a while back that had these pins missing so emailed HPI & they sent replacements out FOC.👍🏻
Had a feeling the mistake happened when HPI moved from there original suppliers & over to the Taiwan ones but maybe completely wrong!

He was referring to 86803 though.

So it has to be the tubes. 👍
I'm not sure the locating lugs for the TVPs could could go missing, as they are an integral part of the moulding. Basically they would've had to have been sheared off both sides, right? 🤔 Or the moulding is defective.

If it's not the metal tubes, then those lugs should be there with replacement 85235. 👍

Maybe how I’am reading it but thought he was saying above these?

“These locate into the TVPs above the fixing screws“
As mentioned in previous post I did in fact have these very pins missing so emailed HPI with photos etc! 👍🏻

Hey, thanks for the reply’s and sorry about the confusion over this. The bits missing are the locating pins above the metal threaded hex tube. I’ve now had a reply from HPI and sadly these parts aren’t available separately any more. From what I was told these used to come loose and be fitted during the build, this was problematic so they started to do the bulkhead with these already installed. Maybe my truck had these missed off when put together but who knows. Anyway I need to either make a replacement pin or find some old or damaged bulkheads and salvage these parts.
Again thanks for all the reply’s….

That's not great, sorry to hear. 🫤

I hope you can fabricate something soon. 👍🤞

Sorry if my ramblings confused matters - I think my ancient SS is a slightly different design. Those locating lugs on mine are moulded composite. 😅
