I have tried everything I can think of to get the 5.9 engine to run cooler but it always seems to run 260 to 275 range. ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Before you ask the air filter is clean and oiled, running traxxas 20% and is a fresh
gallon and tried fuel from another fresh gallon of fuel, have tried glow plugs ranging from the hpi stock plug to mccoy mc8 and the mc9 just for ****s and giggles seeing how its a cold plug and the OS #8, have checked for air, fuel leaks on engine and carb and have adjusted high and low settings to the point of being pig rich and that is the only way I can get it to cool down.

How much fuel is through the engine? I hear the new 5.9 engines have a very tight pinch thus increasing friction and heat. I would also try running some 30% fuel in to increase the oil content and possibly cool that horse down.

My 5.9 runs around 275 all the time, but its summer time in Houston.. so that has something to do with it. But i don't tune with the temp gun... i listen to what the motor is doing, and how much oil is coming out to the pipe....

275 is not a bad temp. Tune for performance, not temps. As long as you have good smoke coming out, even at WOT you are good to go. Use the temp gun as a quick check when running to make sure the engine has not spiked in temps over its "normal" temp for no reason. When I say "normal" temp I mean every engine has a tempurature sweet spot they like to run at, and EVERY motor is different with temps. Like Blazer said, go to 30% fuel and you will see the temps go down. Oh yeah, try changing the brand of fuel you use if you can. I have not had good luck with that particular blend and there are others here who also not happy with it. Good Luck!
