Just finished breaking in my new rig but it won't shift to second. I tried adjusting it twice by turning the screw out and no luck. Maybe I have to turn it out more?

What screws did you turn out? If you turned the needles on the carb OUT you went the wrong way. They should be screwed in from factory settings to get the engine to shift and run properly.

No no, I was turning the sctew for the shifting, not the carb, that's all takin care of. There is two screws to adjust the shift points. Tried adjusting the second screw but no luck.

Has the motor been tuned after breakin? An untuned motor will affect the tranny shifting. If the motor is properly tuned, which screw in the tranny did you adjust? There are 2 screw access holes, and you need to adjust the screw in the second hole, it's kind of angled

so an untuned motor will not shift oh so thats why i have not hit 2nd gear i run 1/2 to1 tune rich

Ya I did the proper one, the second one. I tuned after break in, maybe ill try tuning more tomorow.

How much did you turn the screw counterclockwise? If the motor is tuned right, you may just have to turn it out more.

Always make sure your tune is right and the slipper is tight before adjusting the screw on the tranny.

For testing the shifting, tighten the slipper all the way down. Then once you've determined the problem you can loosen it 1/4 turn if you want. I run mine tightened all the way down all the time personally.

I keep mine tight all the way too. If it needs to slip, it will. Even when its all the way tight.

Snug tight. I tighten mine till all the coils are compressed and touching on the spring. You can make it tight enough to distort the spring but there is no point in that. I do mine about like I do my wheel nuts. So fairly tight, but not overboard.

well i tightened the slipper all the way but now i cant even try it out cuz it just snowed here like 2 feet!!
